Along with our core services, Nūl hopes to offer a digital library of books that are easily accessible with availability in home languages. Our mission is to place books into children’s hands so that the habit begins young and to also build the same passion in the adults and community that surround them.
A 2024 report from the Grattan Institute says Australia is in the midst of a reading crisis. A third of children cannot read at the level expected of them and when they fall behind, there are few or inadequate measures to get them back to where they should be. Furthermore, for many of Australia’s regional and rural schools, accessing reading material can be tricky, and finding culturally relevant resources that connect students in remote communities with home languages and culture can be even more challenging.
By choosing Nūl, children least served will have access to engaging and culturally relevant books in home languages. Together we will work to equip families and communities to unlock their potential, empowering the next generation to experience the joy of reading and break free from cycles of disadvantage.
